The welcome initiative which was handled by the Presidential Initiative for the North East (PINE) also seized the opportunity to train them on rice re-bagging exercise.

Dailynews9ja is reporting that Nigeria has hit pay dirt with the discovery of a rare mineral resource in the northern part of the country.
According to reports it published on Monday, August 29, the online medium quoted The Australian, an Australian national news daily as saying that a private mining syndicate headed by a mining industry veteran, Hugh Morgan made the discovery at Dangoma in the north-west state of Kaduna.

 “The discovery is unusual because the nickel is found in small balls up to 3mm in diameter of a high purity in shallow soils in what could be the surface expression of a much bigger hard-rock nickel field.

 “The nickel balls, rumoured to grade better than 90 per cent nickel and thought to be a world first given their widespread distribution, offer the potential for early cashflow from a simple and low-cost screening operation to fund a full assessment of the find that has exploration circles buzzing,”
the newspaper was quoted as reporting.

Morgan also said that he expects the federal government of Nigeria to make an official announcement but reports that Olayinka Oyebode, chief press secretary of minister of solid minerals development, Kayode Fayemi, said he had no details of the discovery.

Oyebode however confirmed that Fayemi is scheduled to be in Australia next week as one of the speakers at a three-day Africa Down Under mining conference at Perth’s Pan Pacific Hotel, Australia. “I know there is a mining conference coming up in Australia where the Honourable Minister is supposed to make a presentation. “But I don’t have an advance knowledge of what he’s going to talk about but, generally speaking, he’s going to market Nigeria,” Oyebode was quoted as saying on Monday, August 29.

A splinter group of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, “The Re-branded Indigenous People of Biafra, TRIOPOB,” has said the struggle for the actualisation of Biafra is not feasible.

Spokesman of the splinter group, Chima Phillip Effiong Osuji, made the remark after a meeting convened by some aggrieved members of IPOB in Aba, Abia state.

Disclosing that the new group will denounce the struggle, Osuji said TRIPOB will set ablaze the Biafra flag, recite Nigeria’s national anthem and pledge in Abuja.
Osuji, however stressed that the spirit and intent of Biafra will be pursued inside the Nigerian nation.

According to Osuji, “TRIPOB now sees the Biafra question from a different perspective. Amaechi in Fresh Trouble: Buhari Orders EFCC to Investigate $757 Million Theft Allegation

President Mohammadu Buhari has secretly asked the leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately investigate and prosecute a former governor of Rivers State who is also the Minister for Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, over the $757 million (N80 billion Naira) that was allegedly found in his Bancorp Bank account in the United States of America.

It would be recalled that Mr. Rotimi Amaechi recently wrote to Bancorp Bank in Minnesota in the United States and claimed that the said $757 million Dollars domiciled in an account in his name was authorized by him in error from a Rivers State Government Account with Access Bank Plc.

But a source at the Presidency told Nigerian Concord Newspapers that President Buhari had personally called Amaechi several times to explain his roles In the alleged laundering.
According to the source, Mr. Amaechi’s explanation didn’t go down well with Buhari who vowed to ensure that he gets to the truth of the matter.
It was gathered that the president this morning instructed the EFCC’s chairman, Mr. Magu, to secretly investigate Amaechi’s role and bring him to justice immediately his involvement is confirmed.

Professor Charles Soludo, on Monday in Kaduna State, took the Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress (APC) government, to the cleaners detailing what the government must do to take Nigeria to a progressive change.

Soludo spoke as a guest lecturer at Kaduna Progressive Governance lecture series with the theme: “Building the economy and developing inclusive sustainable growth.”

Below are the 16 hard truths Soludo told APC governors with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in attendance.

1. That the collapse of oil price is a blessing to Nigeria as it presents an opportunity for a new beginning.
2. That the Federal Government should consider ‘loosening of Abuja stranglehold on the states’.
3. That Nigeria can’t experience sustainable and inclusive growth in the face of ‘mass elite discord’
4. That agriculture might not be a sustainable option for Nigeria’s economy given the disastrous level of poverty and illiteracy in the country.

Shock As Atiku ‘Bows Out’, Releases Heartbreaking Statement ‎To APC

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, may have technically bowed out of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, as he has on Sunday, August 21, refused to refute the allegation of picking the 2019 Presidential ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. 

Atiku, who was reacting to a story in a national newspaper which linked him with the crisis in the PDP, simply said, “I have no hands in PDP’s crisis”. And refused to comment on his planned defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a post on Twitter by his media office, Atiku said he had no hand in the PDP problem.
“Former VP @Atiku has no hand in PDP crisis.”

Recall, that a Factional National Chairman of the PDP, Ali Modu-Sheriff, had last Wednesday, alleged that the rival Ahmed Makarfi Faction in collaboration with some PDP Governors, were planning to hand over the party’s 2019 presidential ticket to an unnamed founder of the party, currently in the APC.
Atiku, had previously in 2011, unsuccessfully sought the PDP’s presidential ticket, after returning to the party from the Action Congress, AC.

After the APC was formed in 2013, Atiku crossed to the party and in 2015, he was beaten to the presidential ticket by President Muhammadu Buhari.
There have however, been unconfirmed rumours that Atiku might return to the PDP, ahead of the 2019 elections to run for President again.

Although, sources said that the refusal of Atiku to release a full statement dis-associating himself from Sheriff’s allegation, means that there is an iota of truth in it.

"In Abuja, the Secretary will meet with a group of adolescent girls working to change community perceptions that devalue the role of girls in the society.
"He will also meet with Northern governors and religious leaders."

Meanwhile, a reliable source has disclosed to Oriental Times that there has been an increased pressure from world powers and ally countries of Nigeria, who are already certain that Nigeria will collapse, enabling the restoration of independent nations that were amalgamated into it in 1914. The Governor of Imo State, Owele Rochas Okorocha who made an unscheduled trip to Europe a few days ago on a business trip according to the press has been reportedly in a quagmired condition as the said business trip turned to medical trip.

Reports reaching US from a reliable source in Europe has it that the said state chief executive, had been moved from Europe to India over a serious health challenge suspected to be Schizophrenia. The sickness was confirmed when the Governor began to claim he encountered a ghost in his Office.

According to our source in Imo State Government house, Governor Okorocha suddenly started shouting in his office... "who brought this woman here?".When his aids rushed into the office they saw absolutely nobody with the number one man in the state. Out of curiosity they asked the Governor what the problem was and which woman he was referring to but he was still shouting... "I said who brought this woman here?"

Another source reliably informed US that the disappearance of the ghost said to be carrying a little baby, and an exchange that occurred between the Governor and the Ghost woman made the Governor to start shouting. ..”who brought this woman here” … raising an alarm and immediately the woman was said to have disappeared. The governor’s close aides immediately arranged for abroad treatment of the Chief executive, confusing it with business engagements.

Heavy-armed police officers have reportedly sealed off the residence of former Governor of Kano state, the incumbent Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The house, located at Lugard Road is a few minutes-drive away from the Kano government house. Also, Kwankwaso’s lodge road residence, which serves as the headquarters of Kwankwasiyya movement, was sealed up over supposed plan by the ex-governor to conduct mass wedding.

Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide (IYC), which is an umbrella body for Ijaw youths has said some politicians are desperate to rope former president Goodluck Jonathan as one of those responsible the formation of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA).
Mr Eric Omare the spokesman of the group, said the desperation has now reached its peak after a media report surfaced that there was an intelligence report indicating that Jonathan was one of the persons behind the formation of the NDA.

The IYC gave the following statement explaining the reasons:

“The characters behind this desperate plan are politicians of Niger Delta extraction who are in the present government and do not want a peaceful resolution of the renewed militancy in the region.

They prefer a military option that would result in the killing of innocent Niger Deltans. The genesis of these frivolous accusations against former President Jonathan started after he visited President Buhari few weeks ago.

And after the meeting and while speaking with the media, Jonathan said that everybody desired peace and that the leaders of the Ijaw nation were working hard to achieve peace in the Niger Delta region including himself.

This did not go down well with these party chieftains and political office holders in the Federal Government from the Niger Delta region because they did not want a peaceful resolution of the crisis.

Secondly, they don’t also want Jonathan’s intervention to resolve the crisis for obvious political reasons. So, this is the reason why they have orchestrated all sorts of lies to drag Jonathan into the formation of the NDA. It is deliberate and we are sure the top hierarchy of government knows this fact.”

The group strongly condemned the maligning of Jonathan, advising him to explore legal options to bring such irresponsible publications and blackmail to a stop.

Meanwhile, who is the president of the Niger Delta justice group said on Friday, August 19 that there was a scheme to implicate Jonathan so as to finally kill him in detention.

He said: “Laughable as the allegations against him (Jonathan) in the campaign of calumny already in the open are, it cannot be taken for granted and waved aside as it is serious because they are desperate and anxious to accomplish their clandestine mission to malign, frame up and eliminate an innocent man.”

Barely 72 hours after a trader, Joe Fortemose ‎Chinakwe’s detention at the police for naming his pet dog after President Muhammadu Buhari, a woman, has named her dog after the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed.
The woman, who goes by the name, Ada Ogbonna, caused a massive stir on the social media after she posted a photo of her carrying her dog.
She shared this on her wall on Facebook on Thursday, saying she named the dog after someone she admires.

She tagged the photo: “Meet my dog, Lai Mohammed.

“I named it after someone I admired. I wonder why that other man got arrested for naming his dog after a look alike, na wa o.”
Meanwhile, recall that the detained trader, ‎Chinakwe explained that he had been an ardent supporter of the President and saw nothing wrong with his action.
Upon his arrest, he had insisted: “I did not commit any offence. I named my beloved pet dog Buhari, who is my hero. My admiration for Buhari started far back when he was a military Head of State.”

The 30-year-old trader has, however, since been released following the intervention of both the Serkin Hausa and President-General of non-indigenes in Ogun state.

Breaking: Tension as United States Govt. Predicts Doom, Severe Hardship for Nigeria Through 2017

Nigerian crude oil production will likely remain suppressed by militant activity at least through next year, a report from the U.S. government said.
The most active of the many militant groups in the oil-rich Niger Delta region, the Niger Delta Avengers surfaced early this year and have since contributed to a steep drop in crude oil production. Based on a report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, total Nigerian crude oil production fell to a 30-year low this year.

“Crude oil production disruptions in Nigeria reached 750,000 barrels per day in May 2016, the highest level since at least January 2009,” the EIA’s report read.

The Niger Delta Avengers have been waging a militant campaign against national and international energy companies working in the Niger Delta. The group accused the government of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari of favoring oil and gas interests over the interests of the people in the Niger Delta.

In official statements, the group said it was countering the government’s narrative that its campaign targeted Nigerian security forces and oil workers, instead blaming the administration of Buhari, a former military general, for some of the violence.

In an early August statement , spokesman Mudoch Agbinibo said the group was calling for the restructuring of the country, saying the Buhari administration was deaf to the plight of its citizens.

The EIA’s report said the NDA’s campaign has been “immediate” and “severe” for Nigerian oil production. The Buhari administration at one point this year suggested a truce was brokered with militant groups, but the Niger Delta Avengers said in an official statement that it had “not negotiated with anyone.” The government, however, has continued with an amnesty program aimed to stemming the tide of violence.

“However, because payouts are just one of the NDA’s many demands, crude oil production stoppages are likely to continue until the Nigerian government and the NDA can reach a comprehensive agreement,” the U.S. government’s report read. “EIA expects Nigerian oil production to remain depressed through 2017 as a result of militant attacks.”

Based on a report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, total Nigerian crude oil production fell to a 30-year low this year.

“Crude oil production disruptions in Nigeria reached 750,000 barrels per day in May 2016, the highest level since at least January 2009,” the EIA’s report read.

The Niger Delta Avengers have been waging a militant campaign against national and international energy companies working in the Niger Delta. The group accused the government of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari of favoring oil and gas interests over the interests of the people in the Niger Delta.

In official statements, the group said it was countering the government’s narrative that its campaign targeted Nigerian security forces and oil workers, instead blaming the administration of Buhari, a former military general, for some of the violence.

In an early August statement , spokesman Mudoch Agbinibo said the group was calling for the restructuring of the country, saying the Buhari administration was deaf to the plight of its citizens.

The EIA’s report said the NDA’s campaign has been “immediate” and “severe” for Nigerian oil production. The Buhari administration at one point this year suggested a truce was brokered with militant groups, but the Niger Delta Avengers said in an official statement that it had “not negotiated with anyone.” The government, however, has continued with an amnesty program aimed to stemming the tide of violence.

“However, because payouts are just one of the NDA’s many demands, crude oil production stoppages are likely to continue until the Nigerian government and the NDA can reach a comprehensive agreement,” the U.S. government’s report read. “EIA expects Nigerian oil production to remain depressed through 2017 as a result of militant attacks.”

The Justice Helen Ogunwumiju-led five-man bench unanimously agreed in their judgment that Justice Abang erroneously assumed jurisdiction to hear the motion and adjournedit till a later date.Justice Philomina Ekpe, who read the lead judgment, held that what Justice Abang ought to have done in line with time-honoured doctrine of “stari decisis” wasto have transferred the motion to the Court ofAppeal for determination.She also held that the Justice Abang wronglyinterpreted the provisions of Order 4(10) and (11) of the Court of Appeal rules when he held that the said provisions were only applicable to an interlocutory ruling of the lower court and when a final judgment in a suit had been delivered.She also held that Justice Abang lacked jurisdictions to interpret the provisions of theCourt of Appeal being the rules of a superior court.In her contribution, Justice Ogunwumiju, heldthat the trial judge “deliberately stood the lawon its head” by justifying his jurisdiction to hear the motion when appeal has been entered.

Nnamdi Kanu Moves Against Buhari, Writes British High Commission

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu has made a fresh move against the federal government of Nigeria, Commission said his trial on treasonable felony is politically orchestrated by the Nigerian government.
A  source within Kanu’s family told Dailynew9ja that the letter dated August 16, and written on behalf of Kanu was sent to the British High Commission on Wednesday, August 17.

The source said Kanu is set to send more letters to many other high commissions – a protest on his incarceration by the Nigerian government.

The letter seen by Dailynew9ja said: “We write to the British High Commission on the ugly direction the political orchestrated trial of Nnamdi Kanu (a British citizen) is premised on a most concocted charges of treasonable felony is gradually assuming.”

“In the face of this conspiratorial plot by the Nigerian government to hang our client at all cost and by any means, we respectfully invite the British government to demonstrate more responsive concern in restoring the dignity and freedom if our client whose fundamental rights as guaranteed under the supreme laws of the land and relevant international conventions has been grossly violated by Nigerian government,” it said.

Kanu accused the Nigerian government of frustrating his defence in various ways including the difficulty in accessing records of ruling and orders made by the court during the course of his trial, lack of fair hearing in his matter and the use of facial masks behind screen for witnesses to be brought in by the prosecutor, the Department of State Services (DSS).

“Despite our stiff opposition to this application (protection of witnesses), the honourable court for reasons best known to him, apparently not supported by any legal precedence or judicial authorities made a volte-face and strangely varied the order he made on the 19th day of February, 2016.

“In effect, the court granted an application for a secret trial of our client, a British citizen obviously sitting in appeal against his order made on the February 2016,” the letter said.

Kanu in the letter said he has further appealed to the Court of Appeal to set aside the order made by Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court.
