The US secretary of state John Kerry visited Nigeria amid heavy economic and political crisis, his visit proves problematic for Buhari in Aso Rock who is faced with numerous problems in the country and angry citizens calling for his resignation.

Kerry arrived in Abuja Tuesday, August 23, 2016, following a huge political crisis in the country as Nigeria faces break up, the United States is trying to use her world power influence to hold the country together citing several economic interests.

With the continued incarceration of Nnamdi Kanu and the rise of the Niger Delta Avengers, Nigeria faces economic default and total breakdown of law and order, Politicians from around the world has called for Kanu's release and for a referendum to be held in respect to the avenger's and Biafra agitators demand.
Buhari's government have been a massive failure and the citizens filled with discontent amid severe poverty and rising cost of living, Nigeria is described as a "failed state" suffering from various problems from economic to political crisis to corruption, unfair treatment, and marginalisation of the southern region has led to a major uprising with series of protests seen across the region calling for a republic and the avengers determined to default the country's economy on an "Operation Red economy" mission by destroying every pipeline installations and preventing exploration and exports as a way of protesting the ill treatment of the region for decades

Former president of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo describes the situation as alarming saying "Nigeria is on the tip of a Gun barrel and can explode at any time" he also acknowledged that the country's unity have never been threatened than now and if nothing is done quickly Nigeria will break up forcefully.
John Kerry's visit is somehow useful at this stage as the US is trying to prevent another civil war to erupt in the country, hopefully, president Buhari will be persuaded to do the right thing and release Nnamdi Kanu to open the door for diplomacy.
