Hundreds attend Nollywood premier Ortega and His Enemies in Greenwich

HUNDREDS of Nigerians from across the UK and film enthusiasts gathered at the Odeon Cinema in Greenwich yesterday to watch the premier of Nollywood's latest film Ortega and His Enemies.



Produced by Benalex Media Production, the movie is set in London and Essex was directed by the company's managing director Malcom Benson, who was also the producer and director of Forget The Pact and Phantom of Fury. It featured British and Nollywood heavy weights including Rita Okoro, Uche Odoputa, Darrel Las Quevas and emerging UK talent Adi Alfa.

Intriguing throughout, the movie unravels the happenings of an anger management patient John Ortega played by, Darrel Las Quevas whose world is torn apart when he cannot manage his fiancé's adversaries. Two hours long, the film was packed with scenes of deceit, brutality, police action and  suspense.

Mr Benson said: "Ortega and His Enemies promises a new height of global intrigue and suspense. Its London premiere is a prelude to other premieres billed for a number of international locations."

In the film, the manipulative Lee played by Alexandra Johnston and mum Franklin Macintosh played by Dean Ekperigin, are out for vengeance against Afi, who plays the lead actress Sara. Other forces the forces of antagonism in the film include DC Martha and Maxwell Toby, Sara’s step dad, the cross dresser ex police officer.

Among the prominent Nigerians who attended the event were Dr Uche Gwam, the head of political affairs at the Nigerian high commission, former mayor of Enfield Councillor Kate Anolue and the former mayor on Waltham Forest Councillor Anna Mbachu. Several other Nollywood stars including Roseline Sanni-Ajose and Theodora Ibekwe-Oyebade were also in attendance.



In recent years, Nollywood has stepped up its attack on the UK market and industry analysts believe it is only a matter of time before the sector has a box office blockbuster. Some of the Nigerian films that have had successful premieres in London over the last two years include Phone Swap, Doctor Bello, Shattered Hearts, Last Flight to Abuja, International Games, Amina, London Na Wa, Heartless Carer, Flower Girl and Heroes and Zeroes.
