Close to 120 people were buried today in a tearful mass funeral in 'Yar Galadima village attended by Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, his deputy, SSG, top government officials, and the emir of Dansadau.

When the Governor's convoy passed through Dangulbi village close to 'Yar Galadima, locals shouted abusive language and threw stones at his convoy. A Zamfara government house press crew vehicle was seriously damaged in the assault but thirty soldiers rescued journalists.

A former councillor, Salisu Mutunji, said the death toll might rise as some of the villagers who escaped into the bush might have fatal gun shots wounds.

The massacre happened Saturday on the same day a group of village vigilantes were meeting to strategize how to fight back against the activities of cattle rustlers and armed bandits when they were surprised by close to hundred gunmen on motorcycles who opened fire killing more than hundred people.

'Yar Galadima village is about 10 km to Dansadau, the epicenter of clashes between armed bandits and vigilante groups in Zamfara state, Northern Nigeria.
