Louis Murphy (10) has signed with the Tampa Bay Bucs
Disappointing receiver Louis Murphy became the second Giants target to join Tampa Bay on Wednesday afternoon, signing a one-year deal with the Bucs. Tampa announced the move. Murphy joins former Giants tight end Brandon Myers in Tampa.
Murphy spent just one season with the Giants and spent most of it underachieving. He arrived as a potential deep threat last summer, but he managed just six catches for 37 yards and a touchdown on the year, dealing with injuries and struggling to get on the same page with quarterback Eli Manning. The Giants never seemed to have much interest in bringing Murphy back, either, and they essentially moved on last week, when they signed receiver Mario Manningham, a former Giant to add depth.
Big Blue could still use some depth at the position, although it could easily address that in an NFL draft that seems rich in receiving talent.
Murphy returns to the state where he once starred. Murphy attended Lakewood West HS, which isn't far from Tampa, then headed to the University of Florida.
