Three brothers from the Moro indigenous ethnic Muslim race have been accused of butchering their mother before proceeding to eat her her organs in a ritual killing.

The woman, Musala Amil, whose mutilated body was found in the family farm, was 56 years old.

Neighbours reported hearing strange noises coming from the family home for days before her body was found in Ampatuan, Philippines, badly mutilated body with several parts missing and drained of blood.

 The three brothers, Dante, 35, Paroy, 21, and the youngest Ibrahim, 18, who reside in a family farm at Purok Nabadtog in Barangay Kamasi in Ampatuan all deny committing the senseless act.

The brothers were said to have been trying to drive away an illness they believed was brought on by a bad spirit but local officials said superstitious elders in the municipality believed the suspects were possessed by evil spirits,
Police will test the brothers for drugs and are looking into reports the family has a history of mental illness.
