Torres, Costa in Spain’s World Cup list, Negredo dropped

Diego Costa and Fernando Torres where part of Spain’s final 23-man World Cup list released by national team coach, Vincente del Bosque on Saturday.

Costa was a huge doubt after suffering a reoccurrence of a hamstring while playing for Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. The Brazilian born Spanish international was ruled out for two weeks casting doubt over his availability for the summer fiesta.

However, Del Bosque kept faith with the striker and Costa chances of making the final list was improved after news of progress in is recovery was made known to the public on Friday.

Perhaps the surprise inclusion in Spain’s list is Fernando Torres, the Chelsea striker have not had the best of seasons and it was widely expected that he will not make the final cut, however, after he scored in Friday’s 2-0 win against Bolivia, Del Bosque was quoted as saying that he has confidence in the striker’s abilities.

However, Manchester City duo of Alvero Negredo and Jesus Navas were dropped from the final 23-man list. Navas it would appear was unable to recover from an injury while Negredo was dropped due to the coach preference for David Villa.
