Tension as Niger Delta Militants Kill 6 Soldiers in Cross River

Six Nigerian soldiers have been killed by a team of militants led by the wanted kingpin, Benjamin Simplee (AKA G1), leader of the Bakassi Strike Force, Dailynews9ja reporters.
The soldiers, deployed to Efut Esighi waterfront in Cross River state were caught unawares by the militants, local reports said.
It’s said that they stormed the area around 1 am on speedboats when the soldiers having their guards down, and shot five of them dead instantly. The sixth soldier ran off with gunshot wounds but died later.
The Nigerian army however claims that only one soldier died from the attack.
“We would like to assure the public that this singular act would not deter us from the discharge of our duties,” Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman said.
