An early Thursday morning clash between the Urhobo people of Aladja and Ijaw of Ogbe-Ijoh communites in Udu and Warri Southwest Local Government Areas of Delta State has left no fewer than three persons fatally wounded and scores still unaccounted for.
Although what caused Thursday’s clash was not immediately known at the time of this report, The Nation reports that the two communities had not been living peacefully for decades as a result of a boundary dispute that predates the Ijaw /Itsekiri war that lasted from 1997 to 2004.
An indigene of Ogbe-Ijoh, Mr Richard Koremene, who spoke on telephone, alleged that three of his kinsmen had been butchered.
“Some Ogbe-Ijoh persons have been injured and tension is very high now and there is concern that the hostility might escalate”, he revealed.
