The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has recovered N600,000 retirement benefits owed to Malam Adamu Umar by Sabon Gari Local Government in Kaduna State.
The ICPC spokesman, Mr Folu Olamiti, in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday said Umar was denied his retirement benefits since his retirement from the Local Government five years ago.
He said that Umar had petitioned the ICPC in 2014 alleging that the Kaduna State Local Government Staff Pension Board had denied him his retirement benefits since 2010.
“Investigation by the commission into the matter showed that the Pension Board was indebted to Adamu to the tune of N554, 263.80.
“The amount was derived from the retiree’s gratuity and his accrued 53 months unpaid pensions by the board,” he said.
Olamiti, who said that the board had adequately perfected the payment, added that the regular monthly payment had also been commenced. (NAN)
