The Boko Haram crisis that has turned some Northeastern parts of the country especially Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states into a war-zone, has been blamed on the escalating level of corruption in the country.
The Catholic Bishop of Maiduguri Diocese, Most Reverend Oliver Doeme, who made the assertion yesterday while speaking with newsmen at the Saint Patrick’s Cathedral Church, Maiduguri, the Benue State capital, said with the abundant resources God has blessed Nigeria with, the country’s youths were supposed to be trained and gainfully employed but sadly, this was not the case because of high level of corruption in the land.
“If all youth are employed, we would not have witnessed the carnage we are witnessing today.
“Attacks on schools, places of worship and killings of innocent students is unacceptable. I therefore call on the Federal Government to equip the security agencies to enable them checkmate the activities of the insurgents”, Doeme added.
