Ahead of tomorrow’s meeting of his faction of the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi on Sunday declared the President lacks the power to suspend Lamido Sanusi as CBN governor.
The factional NGF chairman said Sanusi’s suspension was unconstitional.
He spoke on Sunday at a Church service.
“You can imagine how President Jonathan announced the sudden removal (suspension) of the CBN Governor.
He does not have such powers. He knows that nothing will happen that was why he took that action. So, I think the preachers should begin to preach what we called the liberation theology. You (church leaders) are supposed to have more responsibilities to hold government accountable.” Amaechi said.
While urging the church to pray against acts of impunity and corruption in the country the governor also lamented the alleged missing 49.8 billion dollars from the federation account. Continuing he enjoined the church to insist on accountability from the nation’s political leaders, stressing that it was a duty expected from Christians and religious leaders in the count
