Lekki Gardens: Defective buildings to be demolished – Ambode

Occupants of buildings in Lekki Gardens have been urged to vacate the premises. The Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, who addressed Government House Correspondents at the Lagos House, Ikeja, shortly after inspecting the site of the collapsed building which was under construction by the Lekki Gardens on Tuesday, said the incident which claimed 34 lives and left several others injured was “one building collapse too many”.

Court stops Ekiti from land takeover for airport project

An Ado Ekiti High Court has declared as unconstitutional, unlawful and of no effect, the takeover of a portion of land by the Ekiti State government for an airport project. The court also frowned at the destruction of economic trees, crops and buildings erected there. Justice Dele Omotoso also ordered the payment of N5m as general damages to the claimants for the loss they suffered for the destruction of their crops and economic trees.
