Blatter ‘Submits’ Nomination Form for Fifa Presidential Race

Fifa President Sepp Blatter has confirmed his entry in the 2015 presidential polls but has yet to reveal which five national federations have nominated him.
Blatter tweeted- with a link to a recent publication by Fifa’s Adhoc electoral commission, saying: “I’ve made my submission, now the electoral committee follow a process.”
The Swiss football administrator has been at the helm of world football affair since 1998 and is seeking for a fifth tenure. He has in the meantime received full backing from the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

Thursday is the deadline for entries for the Fifa presidential election, which comes up on May 29.All intended candidates must possess at least five nominations from any of Fifa’s 209 associate federations.Dutch federation president Michael van Praag is the only contender to have identified members nominating him. He named Belgium, Faroe Islands, Romania, Scotland and Sweden.

Portugal’s Luis Figo and Fifa Vice President Prince Ali al-Hussein of Jordan also claim to have nominations.

The other two candidates are former France international David Ginola, who is reportedly being paid by a betting company to run, and longtime Blatter right man, Jerome Champagne, also from France.

Fifa’s election oversight committee will scrutinise nominations and announce official candidates next month.
